[edit] Standard Operating Procedure

I believe that in order to make these RL protest more effective, we should have a standardized packet of information present at all protests. The packet should include:

1. A copy of any and all protest permits for the event. In the event a permit is not required, a letter from the town or city clerk stating that such a permit is not required. If at all possible, a copy of the town regulations regarding protests, assembling, ect.
2. Information from either the town/city clerks office regarding the use of masks at the protest. What is and is not allowed. Copies of the law for a particular area, a letter from the town/city clerks office stating what is and is not allowed.
3. 1 to 3 copies of all flyers, posters, cards, ect that will be handed out or display. Any such materials that contain the words 'hate' should be discouraged. This will prevent anon from being targeted as a hate group, or arrested for 'hate speech', which could be illegal in some counties. Why more than 1 copy? So that the officer is free to distribute the information himself to his friends/co-workers.
4. A letter, packet of information stating the purpose of the protest.
5. The 22 protest rules for anon. Protest_Rules
6. A letter thanking the local police department present for their assistance in advance for ensuring a peaceful protest.

The Police are there to serve and protect the people. Yes there are some bad police officers out there, like the Dekalb County riot squad, but there are also the everyday officers who are working to protect us and our rights. (props and cake to THIS guy. He's awesome) [1]

At least one packet of these packets should be brought to the officers on duty. Don't go up to him/her while they're trying to direct traffic of something like that. Ask to speak with one of the officers about the protest if they can spare a minute. If they ask you to wait, wait. Politeness goes a very long way with the police. Never refer to the officer as a 'cop', 'pig', ect. They hate that, and its disrespectful.

Always when talking to the officer, refer to him as either officer or sir, ma'am. They will take you more seriously than they would if you went up to one and went 'hey dude! check this shit out!'. Go over what is in the packet, what is planned for that day. Ask them where it is permissible to protest, where it is safe. If someone has a megaphone, inform them that and ask about the use of it. If anyone has a pre-writen speech, then provide a copy in the packet, and show it to the officer before it is read.

Inform them about your concerns for your safety and about Scientologys history of harassment of its critics. If you're in a mask, tell them why, and what tactics the Scientologist use. The use of cameras, videos, ect, bull baiting tactics. If someone has a laptop or Ipod, show them videos of past protests so that they might know what to expect. Be as friendly and candid with the police presence there.

Being open and candid, truthful and honest, will earn us much win with the public, the police, and all those involved.

Having this as a standard at ALL protest, will show solidarity and focus amongst the protests and for the cause. While the Co$ tries to hide behind fences and parked vans, we'll be public.

I work for a call center. This is illegal. The best we can do is to create a series of sites that say "Would you like more information on the dangers of Scientology?", and request information to contact. Cold calling is illegal, and you will get shut down. Now, we have contracted lead sources that send us callers. Their methods vary, but they all fall within the law. "Click for a free IPOD" is one of the methods. "Would you like information on protecting your home and family with a free security system?" So don't do anything that will backfire on you. tl;dr: We aren't a company that can be litigated against. Also, it specifically states either "for telemarketing purposes" or "no automated message". This is neither. We are not marketing anything but merely push polling. We are not a company that can be shut down. Who's going to file a complaint against someone who claims to be doing a survey on "censorship for his university presentation"? All you do is assign sections of a phone book in alphabetical order for fellow anons everywhere. Nobody needs to ask for anyone's personal information. I don't have a big following (average 400 daily uniques, give or take) but every little bit helps, and since there's no Scientology "churches" within many miles of me where I can protest at, this is my alternative. I was just going to do a comic with some characters talking, then Scientology lawyers threatening to sue for "misuse of thetans in the air" or something of the like, but I figure you guys can do better. The chosen script will be produced and will be shown on nukelandcinema.com as well some links to whatever sites you guys think should be linked (either a site outlining their crimes, or a rallying call site or something of the like) so this is your chance. I've got a good selection of figures to use as cameos and whatnot, and can easily photoshop in guy fawkes masks or protest signs or even the odd mudkip. There's a card project and a website going on that I think should be added to this page:

The website is a safe-for-scientologists site at http://leavescientology.blogspot.com. It's designed to be safe, with no mentions of anything that they're indoctrinated with fanatical hatred against (freezone, psychiatrists, anonymous, critics), are not allowed to see (xenu) or will think is bullshit (murders, fair game, anything bad about hubbard. It's being used right now for the facebook project.

The second is what the website was made for, a business card directed at scientologists themselves. It says "FOR DISTRIBUTION TO ANY SCIENTOLOGISTS" and directs them to libraries or webcafes to get to the website above. The idea is that someone will print up a few thousand of them for each major city, distribute them among anons, and even though we probably won't see many scientologists at the picket itself in the coming weeks it works like a viral campaign and hopefully a few make it back to Scientologists. Or you keep a few in your wallet in case you see a stress test booth somewhere. I'd like to get this rolling in a big way, I think it'd lead nicely into april. Added 18:29 GMT 16/3/08 I have been getting the "403 etc." message all day today. Somewhere on the Partyvan site it mentions that Enturb. is "undergoing auditing for OT VII".. so under attack? There was a notice on Enturb that the errors were caused by migration to a new server or something like that, but for it to be down postgame sux.

20:04 GMT I believe that refers to the original 501 Internal Server Error, which happened because they were upgrading the forums... Just the forums were being upgraded, not the entire site. The new 403 errors are most likely completely unrelated. They may be under attack from Scientology, our traffic may have exceeded their ability to handle it and may've brought the site down, or, most likely, they may have exceeded the maximum amount of bandwidth their host allows.

Near as I can tell no group/organization is allowed to obtain someone's information without their consent in Canada, so I think that would prevent Sci from filming anyone during the protests (Because they're attempting to obtain information by which to identify you). Look up PIPEDA (Wikipedia is good, there's also a privacy site on the GC.CA network). If you were filmed, begin filing complaints with Canada's Privacy Ombudsman if you feel that your rights were not respected. This could lead to a Gov't investigation into Sci if it continues, especially on the 15th. It seems you have to dig deep into any of the websites for Project Chanology to find anything that mentions the saftey measures (ie: this isn't a social event, don't talk to people at protests about personal things, don't give our your phone #, etc). I've spoken to quite a few fellow anons, and only one realized the saftey precautions that have to be taken to protect yourself and remain anonymous.

I suggest adding a saftey section to the main page, or atleast a link to one. Also, as a tip: Instead of giving out your phone # or email (DO NOT DO THIS), set up a faux email account specifically for anything involved in Project Chanology. When creating the account use a reletively secure site, and make sure your security questions actually have nothing to do with your personal life. This way if you're so intent on being a fucking social butterfly (or just organizing to better our efforts), you can talk through anonymous emailing and not have to involve your private life. 06:46 /3.12.08 we.are.legion.nyc

Write in to newspapers pretending to be scientologists. We Can BE scientologists to destroy scientology! Part of what makes them so hard to attack is the fact that there are so many shells, so many arms, branches, groups and subgroups that you can't sue scientology, you can't tax scientology, you can't pin them down because they are slippery fuckers of the first order. So, we, As Anonymous, must troll in the name of scientology, in order to cause the rest of the world to see how fucked up they are. A suggestion: I was discussing this idea with a new anon, she said that IF it is found out to be an Anon site (although how the hell you could do that), OP Butthurt will have less of an impact. Her suggestion was since Co$'s lardass of a creator has already provided so much insane racist shit, why not use that instead? Shit like stuff from OT VIII that Jesus was a lover of young boys etc (it would be ehm, well received by the Christian fundamentalists, and btw, although Co$ claims it is fake, why the hell did they copyright it?). Do you honestly have no freaking cle how anything works? No php and sql means no dynamic content, means everything goes to shit. The 10 minutes downtime here just now was to clean up /var and increase max connections in mysql.

There's nothing faster (that would give any noticeable difference). At any rate, that's not what the problem is. Recent downtime was 10 minutes of server maintenance, and before that it was just some stuff associated with switching large amounts of data to a new host.

[edit] Protest Idea

It's a ways off yet, but I had the idea of Protesting the world premiere of Valkyrie, Tom Cruise's next movie. It wouldn't be until October, and I'm not even sure if the date is set, but I think it would be awesome if every movie theatre in the country had a group of us outside it, and the world premiere (that is attended by the cast) had a giant crowd of Anonymous there.

New and better idea: (Start discussing/spreading it around) Protest at local IRS buildings to bring immediate and mass awareness to Co$ tax exemption status. Make them listen!

I saw mentioned on one of the YouTube comment boards a suggestion that members of Anonymous start "live agenting" declared SPs or "squirrels" and being harassed and slandered by the Church. This might also include anyone who got a packet in the mail with that silly "Hate Crimes" DVD.

Basically, while the scifags are "dead agenting" people by spreading shit about them to neighbours, friends, colleagues, etc. in an attempt to destroy them, we can "live agent" people by posting notices about someone (not naming names) being targeted for harassment and possible attacks from the Church. It could be worded thusly:

NOTICE

A resident of this area has been declared a target for harassment, defamation and possible physical harm by elements within the Church of Scientology, under the Church's "Fair Game" and "Dead Agenting" policies. The Church has been using these tactics in order to suppress dissent and criticism of the Church from its members as well as from the general public.

If anyone should approach you offering information about a neighbor's crimes or other wrongdoing, please refer them to your local police department. Do _not_ offer them personal information about the person mentioned, or about yourself. Any information you receive from these persons is likely to be false. The goal is the dismantling of the Church of Scientology in its present form, by reducing their numbers through deconversion and public awareness of its less palatable activities, by pressuring governments to remove legal protections currently enjoyed by the Church in the U.S. and in other countries, by inviting thorough investigations by all interested law enforcement agencies for evidence of criminal conduct; and by building public pressure on certain high-profile members of the Church either to leave the Church entirely, to distance themselves from the Church's attempts to defend itself, or to scale back their professional commitments until this matter ends.

While our wins so far have been extremely decisive in all fronts (yes, even in Atlanta where the past corruption of the DeKalb County police chief has come to light), we are still in the early stages of this campaign. This campaign will take some time: the biggest win we have encountered so far has been that the media is talking about it in a tone and language that appears to favour us. The media is less afraid of the Church than previously. This is huge win.

We must build on these wins with continued pressure for critical information to circulate. April 12th promises to be our biggest win yet - if we do this right. If we can get helping professionals to join us at the protest then arranging the reunions will be easy. If we can't, then we'll need to focus on spreading information.
