[edit] REQUIRED: Someone to compile a great "video-pack" of today for the media

Today is already proving a resounding success (and that's just so far). However if you are creative, and have good video editing skills then please put together an effective compilation of the days footage to forward to the media and do us all proud.

There's a lot of film that's come in...most of it in a "youtube style format"...which isn't that easy for the media to make use of in itself.

However, this whole protest has already been an (unprecedented) internet born phenomenon which you can play to with good screencaptures/great bits of footage/and maybe even original material. Come on now... Don't be shy! If this is you...it's time to step up to the plate and get this out to all the media-whores

Please post any media stories in respective local subsections.

[edit] REQUIRED: total estimated headcount & summary of results

In addition to specific data for each location, we should total an estimated headcount for press release, as well as a summary of the protests and a statement on how pleased we are with the results.

Note that wikinews cites this section for that number, which is probably some sort of pime taradox.
if you check the page history for both site you can see it went on wikipedia then to here then wikipedia sources here.. idk why

EPIC WIN! ~500 Attend! (Source: WikiNews)

LA Raid Victory e-mail from Anon (main part):
Anonymous, Turnout was estimated by multiple people at between 500-600 throughout the day. Congratluations on being either the #1 or #2 largest Anonymous raid in the world. We are certainly legion. The vast majority of Anonymous were excellent at the Hollywood picket sites, and the police commended us on being a highly organized group that caused very little trouble. Honk signs were requested to be lowered by the police, to which everyone promptly followed instructions. Thank you. [...future plans truncated out of message]
My mask is off to all of you, we have done Anonymous proud. Great chant today: We are Anonymous. We are Legion. -Anon

Almost 70 anons came. Everyone was cool, including the police, and we all had a great time. We only spent about an hour total at the CoS (which had a yellow van parked under it), because it was less trafficked. The rest of the time, we were at a very busy intersection, with sign holders crossing the street every time the walk sign hit. There was plenty of food, water, and masks for everybody. We could have used a few hundred more fliers, and possibly a megaphone. We also had a small boombox, with some anon music, which was nice and is suggested for future protests.

A brave anon did an interview with ABC, and they might contact him later for another, under the condition of anonymity.

Perfect weather here in PDX. We had about 150-180 in attendance. Scientologists had posted a large banner saying "community charity drive" outside their window. There were no major police incidents. Public was very supportive and open to fliers etc. We had one ex-CoS with a riveting story of how she and her daughter had not seen each other more than 3 times in the past 15 years, and how CoS had abused them and ruined their life. Truly riveting. Supposedly one scion quit after seeing the protest. Scions were taking pictures and video from upstairs. They also had an illegally parked truck right outside with tinted windows and a cameraman inside. One was harassing an anon and trying to take his camera until we all turned our cameras and chants on him and he got scared. Update: we were featured on KGW, KATU, KOIN and FOX, as well as possibly in the Portland Mercury and Willamette Week.

The temprature was in the mid-60. The weather was sunny and mild. The highest number of anon protesting simultaniously was 53. Total esimated attendance was 75, which includes anon who either left early, or arrived late, and possible plants. Anon arrived on scene at 12:30pm and seperated into three seperate groups: one group on the south side of Sahara Ave across the street from the Scientology center, the second group was in front of the vakent storefronts next to Scientology center, and the third group was slightly east of the other two on the NE corner of Sahara Ave and Commerce St. The scientologist reaction was minimal, with one minor attempt at "handling."

[edit] Canada: Edmonton, Alberta

Temperature of about -40 Celsius including windchill. Roughly 40 Anon were present, and formed a group in front of the scientology building and another across the street. Anonymous was equipped with signs and flyers, and got nearly constant honking from passersby for at least three hours. Flyers were distributed to cars who stopped at the red lights. Scifag presence was minimal, but at least one suspicious photographer was spotted. The event was covered by three local papers and a GlobalTV news.

Attendance: 17 total, including a mother who was in attendance for her son who was in Israel.
Great group gathered. We had an good time and a great response from the public. Most already knew about the Co$, but didn't know that Co$ had a facility in Boulder. The local PD were very friendly and had a vehicle on site for the entire event. Scifrogs had 3 people who observed and took pictures. The only harassment was from Ted the Hobo (img below) and some psycho who was convinced that our cameras had stolen his soul. Despite the fact that the protest happened literally on the front door of the local news paper, no media showed up.

[edit] United States: Minneapolis, Minnesota

- There were 75+ people at the Minneapolis raid. The temperature was damn cold (Hovered around -40F with wind chill). Raid started at 11:00 on the dot. When I left at 3:30 there were still about 30 or 40 people there. Cars within 5 square blocks got fliers. A lot of positive response from drivers, especially bus and taxi drivers. A few friendly officers were there to keep the peace. The Scientologists stayed inside. One was filming us from the second floor window; another talked very excitedly into a cell phone for most of the time.

[edit] United States: Chicago, Illinois

Temperatures of about 0F along with wind made for harsh conditions. However, 100+ Anon showed up to protest in 2 groups. Local ordinances prevented Anon from protesting within 150ft of a church during a services. Scifags took advantage of this, and told the CPD they were holding services all day. Numerous scifags were spotted recording Anon, including one who forgot to remove his lens cap.

Around 12:30, Anon was told that while the police were notified, they did not have a protest permit, and could not congregate in such large numbers infront of local businesses. Instead of marching back and forth past the church, Anon took to small goups on corners in the area.

Local support was largely positive, with many honks, even a thumbs up from a patroling officer, and a reporter supposedly from Wired.

At approximately 10am, protesters showed up across the street from the Scientology building, housed in large (former) Masonic temple (oh the irony). The temperature was frigid, below 30 the entire morning, with wind gusting the entire time. Police denied the use of masks and disguises, and a video camera was pointed out of the front door. The cold weather limited sidewalk traffic, but passing cars were generally supportive.

Peak turnout is estimated at around 70 Anons.

Cold and windy in the AM, around 17 warming up to 27 in the afternoon. About 25 members showed up, with a few stragglers later on. We started out across the street, but after a half hour or so proceeded to Co$' front door to finish up. Police presence was minimal, a few patrols past the meeting place before showtime and one patrol car across the street from Co$ during the event. Public response was mostly positive with a few hecklers and middle fingers thrown in. Scifags videotaped us from inside at first, then came out around 12:30 for closer look:

About 5 anons could not make it to the Portland Oregon raid, so we decided to stay in town and spread some information. The pictures provided dont really show it, but we passed out about 700 fliers to random passer-bys. All in all, although we ran into absolutely no Scifags, we passed a lot of information along to people. Hopefully, we can all make it to portland for the March 15 raid.

[edit] Canada: Ottawa

~30 people braved the cold and blowing snow to attend the raid. Lots of honking, lots of flyers given out, lots of support from passers-by. Police were around but there were no major hassles. We had HONK IF YOU HATE SCIENTOLOGY signs which actually worked a little bit. Helene Lacombe from the "Church" stood outside their front door, taking the occasional picture and generally just standing around. Meanwhile there was some sort of small meeting on the second floor of the "Church". Media were present and spoke to anons (some of whom were newfags and acted like goons, unfortunately) and with Helene.

[edit] Canada: Toronto

Raid began as planned, going from Starbucks to the green zone decided. One side of Yonge Street was practically jam-packed until we realized we were allowed in the red zone (the sidewalks on the side of the Co$ church) and then people split up to take up both sides of the street.

An estimated 250 people showed at the peak of the raid. Not quite 9000, but close enough. We maintained a standing of roughly 150, slowly trickling away as Anon were being chased away by the weather.

Message from someone who was there 10:30 am until 6:30 pm: "It was fucking cold" - pretty much fit the statement. Temperature was low, limbs were freezing, but spirits were high.

A notable police presence was there to maintain the peace, along with half a dozen Scientologists still present in the building.

Various media were present to record the event, including people from York University, University of Toronto, Seneca College, CBC, and Global.

Greg Hagglund, head of the now-inactive ARSCC (and self-acknowledged SP7), was present to offer advice and educate some protesters on the workings of the Co$ OSA, and to offer his support for the Anon legions that have taken up the cause. "Glad to see so many people, even with masks, out here," he states, and agrees that the strength of Anonymous was their being anonymous.

There were three minor setbacks within the protest that were quickly dealt with by other Anonymous. In the future, please:

1) Don't bring weapons, toys or otherwise. A minor brought a toy gun to the protest and had to be asked by the police to leave.

2) Don't promote hate, even in your picket signs. We had someone with a "Honk if you hate Scientology" picket, and was eventually asked to dump it.

3) Don't actually harass Co$ people. We had a few situations where people were going up to the Co$ windows to stare and rattle them. Not only illegal, but Co$ can use it as legal fodder to get the protest to leave.

Rumor is that Co$ is seeking a general injunction to b& protests in the future, but with Canada's Charters of Rights and Freedoms, this Anon certainly wishes them good luck - even with luck, they're sailing in fail.

Chears of "fuck tom cruise!!" and "Fuck L Ron" rang out from passing cars and there was much celebration.

[edit] United States: Boston, Massachusetts

The protest began with a meeting in front of Trinity Church in Copley Square, where Anons met and then dispersed, moving up to Beacon Street where the church is located. Rather large crowd with about 150-200 people, reportedly peaking at 268 people. As the Church is on the corner of Beacon and Hereford, Anons spread to each corner of the intersection, protesting on all sides of the street with signs including slogans like "Remember Lisa McPherson" and "Honk if you oppose Scientology." Many vehicles honked in support of the crowd, including, to the crowd's delight, a fire engine and members of the Boston Public Works Department.

At one point, crowds chanted Religion Should Be Free

There was a noticeable police presence at the very start of the protest, but they soon dispersed, leaving two officers to guard the front doors. The protesters mainly kept to the edge of the street with their signs and handed out both pamphlets and fliers to passersby. A camera was pointed out the window of a room on the Church's third floor and was trained on the protesters the entire time. For a time, one Scientologist had a camera and took pictures and filmed members out front the Church.

The weather, although nasty, did not deter many. As the day started, skies were clear and blue, and it was not too cold. By the time the protest started in had gotten cloudy, cold, and rainy, and the rain eventually ceasing. After that, there was a brief period where the winds picked up and it began to snow heavily, but that died down rather quickly and the sky cleared up again.

One blogger, Steve Garfield, visited the protest and took some short videos, talking to a few Anons and even going up to the very front doors of the Church and asking the officers there if anyone from the Church had come out to speak, and finally, he interviewed one former Scientologist who showed up to support Anonymous and the protests.

Around 60-70 anons attended the protest here.

The Protest went smoothly, no criminal acts were committed and a few police guards who were generally cool with us. We even got acknowledged by a Catholic Priest who said "God bless you." Not on film unfortunately but it did happen.

Good job Miami Citizens.

[edit] United States: Orlando, Florida

Approx. 250 anons showed up for the Orlando raid.

A Lot more Police This Time
At least 4 motorcycle officers
4 officers on horseback
At least 4 unmarked SUV's watching
At least 6 patrol cars (marked and unmarked)
Mobile Command Center drove by (don't know if it was for us or just coincidence)

Police were helpful and generally didn't cause any problems.

We have a press statement from within the Orlando CoS regarding Anonymous. Coming Soon.

[edit] United States: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Peaceful protest with about 150 people. A few friendly police were there walking around and talking to protesters. Plenty of video and pictures to come. Plenty of fliers were passed out. Many posters and banners were shown. Good job anons.

  • The whole crowd sang Happy Birthday to Lisa McPherson.
  • Half of the crowd was at the church while the other half went a few blocks down to the Convention Center, where the Car Show was going on to hand out flyers.
  • There were a few creepy scientology guys standing there and taking pictures.
  • As of 10:29pm EST, Philadelphia's local Fox News affiliate (Fox 29) reported "a group of, what the Church of Scicontology, is calling Cyber-Terrorists have taken to the streets of Brotherly Love to spread their message. The group calls themselves Anonymous." They reported that the Scifags could not be reached for comment, but they referred "the unknown group" as "Cyber-Terrorists, that are committing hate crimes". Awesome job guys!

[edit] United States: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

It was damn cold, and damn windy, but we had at least 30-40 people despite that. The protest was right next to a busy street (Carson St.), and many drivers responded to the "Honk if you hate Scientology" (as well as "Honk if you think Tom Cruise is insane") signs. We even had an ambulance honk. Virtually no response from the CoS, there were a couple of police officers stationed across the street at the CoS building, but this may have been because we contacted them beforehand. We had a good amount of media coverage, including newspapers and even a local news channel. Will post links to these as they become available. Anyone with pictures/video, please send them to xenupgh@gmail.com so I can spread them around.
Overall, a very good, peaceful, protest, which I think got the message across very clearly. No legal troubles or troubles with CoS members.
Also, score, we got on Channel 4 news, and they actually did a very well-balanced report, giving both Anon and CoS airtime. Anon got our say, and CoS got their press release (but we got a lot more airtime :p). A lot of our signs made it onto TV, which hopefully educated some people. Will link to it if/when it goes up on their site. Also I just realized the report mentioned aliens, which Scientologists don't usually hear about until OT III.

Peaceful protest with 250+ people. Police squelched Guy Fawkes masks. Other than that the Police were very friendly. One officer specifically invited anons with flyers to stand in front of church at the beginning of the protest. Non-Heated Discussions between Anon and John Carmichael, NY's Scientology honcho. No hate, no fascism and no communism, just pure win.

  • Chants generally consisted of "Tax the Cult!", "Scientology Kills", "Its a Trap", "knowledge is free", "Research the Church." When one of their PR guys came out all dressed up and started staring at the crowd, crowd responded with, "Shame on you!!!"
  • Had a 50-60yr old Scientologist couple wave and flick off the raid as they went in. Large crowd.
  • Police were cool. There was this one Scino plant that was video taping, started harassing the cops and they moved her to the side, then she came into the crowd and started filming in peoples faces until she got called out as a plant and quickly moved back to the other side of the street.
  • Some of the many things we chanted were: "Tax the Church!", "Ron is Gone but the Con goes On!", "Shame on You!", and "Knowledge is Free!" Whenever someone walked into the CoS, everyone screamed "Don't go in!", "They'll brainwash you!"
  • Some people brought a really long "longcat" flier that seemed to stretch on for about a mile.
  • Big kudos to everyone who showed up in NYC today.. we had a HUGE force. We were larger than the NYPD anticipated and they had to enlarge the bullpen they'd set up for us
  • Goofy meme-isms were sparse
  • Two Scientologists filmed from an upstairs window, they tried to hide at first by pulling the blinds down to the camera, it clearly failed as they were very obvious throughout the entire protest.
  • Happy Birthday to Lisa McPherson was sung twice.
  • "Call your mom" and "Your family wants you back" was chanted as part of our psychological warfare.
  • The only thing that concerned me however, is a man I have dubbed, "Shady Motherfucker", or just "MR. Motherfucker". He wore a tan jacket and had a goatee-he claimed he was from The Post, but could not show us his press pass-because the police took it. While he did take some photos of us, he was much more interested at the cars that honked at our "Honk if you hate Scientology!" poster. When a car honked in support of us, Shady would run up to the car and take several pictures of the driver. He had several small interviews with a few Anons-where he asked their names and repeatedly asked where they lived. When they refused to answer those two questions, Shady would get frustrated and move onto another. Obvious Scieno spy is obvious.

As many as 50 people turned up to protest the Church in cold weather and wind driven snow. With temperatures ranging from 10 to just 15 degrees Fahrenheit and winds at nearly 45 miles an hour, protesters held signs and braced mother nature.

Among the protesters attending was Chuck Beatty, a former Scientologist of 27 years from the Sea Org in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The police were on scene to make sure protester followed laws, but they were off duty officers hired by the Church because they "needed protection from Anonymous," said O. Casillas of the Buffalo police Department. Casillas also stated that protesters, "according to New York state law", had to be at least 100 feet form the Church, but because of a fence, protesters were allowed to picket across the street from the Church.

At least three members of the Church were seen photographing, videotaping, and counting anyone who was gathered outside the Church. The protesters were not approached by any members of the Church.

About 25 people showed up, enduring strong winds and the Wall Of Snow. Two Co$ staff were on hand to glare at us through their glass front door, occasionally filming and taking photos. 3 cop cars were parked across the street and next to the building, which the "mission" shares with, ironically, actual medical practices. Anonymous delivered donuts and hot coffee on several occasions. At one point, Co$ failure now known as "Red Sweater" rushed out to photograph the license plate of a driver picking up Anonymous. As a couple quick-thinking Anons rushed to block the tags, Red Sweater BAWWWWed about "private property" and continued to snap shots of the vehicle. She did manage to photograph the license plate. LOL LOCK UR DOORS. Around 2:15, the scifags called upon their dread lord Xenu to blot out the sun and send a solid block of blizzard down Western Avenue, scattering signs, hats, and fliers, but not our resolve. The raid successfully concluded at 3pm with a grand rendition of "We Are The Champions." All was well. POAST PICS NAO
